Anthony and Lee Bamabra

Anthony is the head boxing coach and co-owner of Combat Fitness, and brings with him 20 years of boxing and marital arts competition experience; including in-camp coaching and programming for professional boxers. Combined with his B.S. in Exercise Science and 9-year-career as a professional strength and conditioning coach, he guides our athletes in and out of the ring with a contagious passion without rival. Only a coach so dedicated to the sport could make it his fulltime job! @bam_bam_bambara

Lee is mouthguard-maker, cutman, manager, website maintenance, janitor, promoter, t-shirt designer, phone-answerer and desk jockey; she wears many hats to keep the gears of Combat Fitness well oiled and turning. She’s been at Combat Fitness fulltime since the beginning of ’20. With her previous career as a dental technician, she has an in-house mouthguard lab for athletes of any and all disciplines; and has developed a specific high-demand style of guard sought by professional and amateur fighters!

Vince Guy & Aaron Krymkowski

Vince is our head Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu coach and co-owner of Combat Fitness, and has been training since 1998 and received his BJJ Black Belt (IBJJF) from Gracie Barra Boston Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Professor Roberto Maia. He has competed and medaled in several NAGA tournaments and is the chief BJJ instructor for Combat Fitness MMA. He has coached the University of Vermont Jiu Jitsu team for over 10 years, and has coached many athletes to victory in grappling arts and MMA.

Aaron has been training at Combat Fitness MMA since Fall of 2012. Aaron primarily focuses on the grappling arts, beginning with Folk Style Wrestling in HS, then Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Judo during college. He has trained and competed in Muay Thai. He holds a Black Belt in BJJ (IBJJF) along with a Green Belt in Judo. Among many gold/silver medals in BJJ/Judo competition he lists a First at the Boston IBJJF Open Championship. He teaches our Gi and No-Gi Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes with a passionate love of instructing.

Scott Kirby

Scott is a certified Personal Trainer with the National Academy of Sports Medicine, and holds the rank of Full Instructor in Paul Vunak’s Progressive Fighting Systems. He has competed in Boxing, Muay Thai, BJJ and MMA. He is also a long time student of JKD, FMA, and Yang Style Tai Chi (under Sifu Bao Tak Fai). Currently Scottie teaches our Kickboxing and MMA classes. From the beginning of Combat Fitness in 2010, Scottie’s decades of experience shine through in his passion to coach students of all levels!

Sub-Coaches

Gretchen is a boxing competitor and passionate instructor here at Combat Fitness. As an ADK 46er, from dressage to Crossfit, skydiving and anything in between, she’s a “fitness enthusiast” with a long lineage of sports and competition. We’re honored to have her covering our boxing and fitness classes, and as a stablemate! @krazykruesi

Reneé is a competitor of kickboxing and boxing, with an extensive “fists-on” knowledge from her extensive training, she’s a great coach due to her exposure to many coaching styles over the years! She’s an avid lover of the outdoors, spectacular event-planner and pillar of the Combat Fitness community as an athlete, coach and unapologetic supporter of her teammates!

Alex is a boxing competitor and experienced instructor with nothing but respect and love for the sport! She’s also an avid hiker with an affinity for good food and lifting heavy stuff! She’s recently competed in powerlifting and made us proud for the Combat Fitness banner being flown in multiple sports locally and in the greater New England area.

Kyra is a talented multi-sport competitor, dominating in Gi and No-Gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, kickboxing and MMA. She’s a veteran athlete and a longtime teammate of Combat Fitness with years of experience competing and many years with multiple coaches, she can teach a newbie or veteran the fundamentals or tricks of the sport with a smile or well-placed kick!

Garret Jacobs

Garret is one of our certified Strength and Conditioning coaches at the gym, as well as boxing coach accepting private lessons during the day. He’s got a great fitness story with an incredible weight-loss journey; we’re honored to have him as one of our resident heavyweight southpaw stablemates, knowledgeable coach and strength enthusiast! @garretjacobscpt

Alex Poniz

Alex started training in BJJ & SAMBO wrestling in 2016 at Bay Jiu-Jitsu in San Francisco, and currently holds the rank of brown belt in BJJ. He has earned bronze, silver, and gold medals in SAMBO competition under coach Reilly Bodycomb, and represented the USA as part of Team Rdojo at the 2018 Dutch Open tournament. Alex’s goal as an athlete and coach is to simplify the complex landscape of grappling into intuitive concepts that can be applied under pressure in different competition rulesets as well as self-defense situations! His combat sports experience also includes shooting sports (USPSA & CAS), paintball, varsity high school wrestling, and youth taekwondo and fencing.
